If you haven’t already heard of the Blacklist Royals that must change right now. Wow was the first word out of my mouth as I viewed their video “Righteous Child” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBAOMYSBz9Y
Blacklist Royals reside in Nashville, TN. They consist of twin brothers Nat and Rob Rufus. They have been playing in bands from the time they were 13 years old back in their hometown Huntington, West Virginia. When Rob was 17 he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. His brother Nat supported him through the whole ordeal and they moved out to Nashville to form Blacklist Royals. They toured for a few years with bands like Less Than Jake and NOFX. After touring they decided to write songs that were all about Rob’s sickness and the twins childhood days revolving around it.
The first song that evolved was “Die Young With Me” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dnz8kmpHlak. “Die Young With Me” was recorded with producer Ted Hutt who worked with bands like The Gaslight Anthem and The Bouncing Souls. The whole record is about going through lifes struggles, wanting to throw in the towel many times but never giving up. Nat wanted the record to be about two brothers in a room just sharing their lives together and writing about it.
