The last couple of weeks I have seen some really cool bands at The Saint in Asbury Park which has quickly become my favorite small club. Owner Scott and his sidekick Meg always make everyone feel at home when they are there. I can’t say enough about them and the way they have been doing what they do for so long. Scott is the reason why Asbury Park even has the Asbury Music Awards every year for the past 20 years. The focus of the club is music, The Saint is a national act venue with a great touch of local acts from newbies to well known. Some of the bands I have recently seen are Deal Casino who landed a great gig of headlining The Saint every Sunday night through the summer handpicking the openers. The Hallowed Roots fronted by Anya Marie, they list themselves as a little bit Blues, Folk, Southern Rock, Country and Pop. Hey Anna a Pop/Alternative band from the East Coast who blew my mind. Dentist another cool sounding Indie/Surf Rock/Alternative band out of Asbury Park NJ fronted by Emily Bornemann. I also had the pleasure of seeing a band for the first time named Coastgaard that my wife and I really enjoyed. They are an Indie Rock band out of Brooklyn New York my hometown. Prehistoric Forest left a lasting impression on my, they are an Indie Rock out of Toms River NJ. They started off with some technical difficulties but frontman Vince kept his cool and stayed focused on doing his part while the band called up a friend from the crowd to fill in on the skins. I have to say it was one of the most entertaining sets I have seen in recent months. There are two things I am always interested in the music and the show. Some bands have one or the other and some have both. I encourage you to check out these band sites and pics from there live shows.
