Amy Malkoff

ImageImageImageImage Amy Malkoff plays in a band called Amy Malkoff and the Moonshines, they are a band based out of Asbury Park, NJ. The band formed in the beginning of 2013, and released a self titled debut EP in May 2013. Amy writes the bones of the songs with haunting, yet dreamy vocals, accompanied by driven and melodic guitar riffs. Erik evokes the mood of the songs, capturing them with heavy hitting leads and atmospheric embellishments. Frank and Matt lock in to create the rhythm section, which is nothing less than the booming heart beat of the band. The Moonshines have honed in on their unique sound and have plans to continuously write new material to get ready to release a second album. The band consists of Amy Malkoff-vocals, Erik Rudic-lead guitar, Frank Calabrese-drums and Matt Castoral-bass. They are an alternative band who has been influenced by bands like Black Sabbath, Stevie Nicks, Pink Floyd, The Pixies, The Cure, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrixx, Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead.

I had the pleasure of seeing Amy and the Moonshines perform at the 2013 Asbury Music Awards, Amy was nominated for the top female vocalist. Her beautiful voice blew me away as she rocked out on the legendary Stone Pony stage. Amy Malkoff also just recently performed at The Saint in Asbury with Nicole Atkins.

Amy Malkoff is also a certified professional Makeup Artist based out of New Jersey. She became professionally certified in 2006 from Joe Blasco School of Makeup Artistry in Orlando, FL. Amy has experience working on-set with TV, celebrities, editorial photo shoots, high fashion/runway, bridal, and beauty makeup.

Amy is a great talent who is definitely worth checking out, give her a listen and check out one of her live shows.
